The short version
You write, Tome stores. Your manuscript is yours. You buy AI words and spend them on AI features — no subscription. Cancel any time. We don't sell your data.
What Tome is
Tome is a writing studio for authors. The software is operated by the Tome team and accessed through tome.house.
Your account
You're responsible for the email address you sign in with. Treat your sign-in email like the password it functionally is.
Your content
Anything you write in Tome — manuscripts, cover designs, translations — remains yours. Tome doesn't claim ownership and won't use your content to train AI models. You grant Tome the limited permission needed to host, render, and deliver your content back to you.
Your rights and warranties
You are responsible for everything you publish through Tome. By listing a work on the store you represent and warrant that: (a) you own the work or hold all rights and licenses needed to sell and distribute it on Tome; (b) the work does not infringe or violate any third party's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights, and is not defamatory or otherwise unlawful; and (c) any ownership attestation you submit (for example, certifying that matched sources are your own prior publication) is true and accurate. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tome and Boci Studio from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of content you publish, your breach of these terms, or a false attestation. Tome may remove any listing and suspend any account in response to a credible infringement complaint.
AI providers
Tome runs AI features (Anthropic, fal.ai, Replicate, LlamaParse) on Tome's own provider accounts. You buy AI words — a flat per-word price Tome sets — and spend them on AI features; the price is Tome's, not a pass-through of any provider's cost. Your content is sent to these providers only to fulfil the action you requested; their terms apply to that processing.
Acceptable use
Don't use Tome to generate or distribute illegal content, infringe on others' copyrights, or harass anyone. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate this.
AI words and refunds
Tome has no subscription — you buy AI words and spend them on AI features. AI words don't expire. Spent AI words are non-refundable, but any unused balance stays on your account.
Service availability
Tome aims for 99.9% uptime but doesn't guarantee it. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages (Supabase, Anthropic), or force majeure may affect availability.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Tome's liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for consequential damages or lost profits.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email at least thirty days in advance. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
